February 14, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
Moving Couples Beyond Repair: Repatterning Relationships in Emotionally Focused Therapy
With Elana Katz, EFT Trainer and Senior Faculty Member, Ackerman Institute for the Family, New York
A Workshop for Experienced Mental Health Professionals
Mental health professionals are faced with the challenge of helping troubled couples repair painful marriages and intimate relationships. In this full-day workshop for experienced clinicians, participants will learn key concepts and tools of Emotionally Focused Therapy, a treatment model that addresses the repetitive patterns of couples in distressed relationships and provides a map for creating new cycles, marked by engagement and responsiveness.
Developed by Dr.Susan Johnson, EFT is receiving world-wide attention for its ability to create the safe haven and secure base that are emblematic of loving and durable relationships.
Participants in this unique educational experience will acquire valuable strategies to help couples define the problem as the cycle of negative interaction, rather than as the problem of each other. You will gain expertise in helping clients share their deeper fears and needs with each other and learn to reach and respond.
Making extensive use of videotapes and experiential exercises, this workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to both see and practice the skills of EFT, learning to apply the premises and language of attachment to create change with even their most challenging couples.
Date/Time: Thursday 14th February 2019, from 9.30-5.00
Venue: The Bouverie Centre, Victoria’s Family Institute, 8 Gardiner St, Brunswick
